Library History
T. L. Handy first welcomed students in 1923, and the original library was located on the 2nd floor. Decades later, February 24, 1994* to be exact, the present Library Media Center opened its doors. Located in the areas first used as the natatorium and locker rooms, the renovated 1st floor space houses over 22,000 items and has a 3½ class capacity. The Library Media Center’s director is Ms. Colleen Montalbano, a credentialed Library Media Specialist. Strong reference and fiction collections, as well as computerized catalog and research are hallmarks of the facility. The Library Library Center also houses a large collection of novel sets for classroom use. Still another major asset is the full-sized, staffed computer lab, designated for individualized student research, attached to the center.
